Our Aberdeen office currently has opportunities for capable, all round, naval architects.
Work will involve carrying out complex analyses relating to onshore and offshore projects including design, analytical and marine warranty work and therefore candidates would be expected to have experience of structural calculations, stability calculations, hydrodynamic / seakeeping studies and mooring design / analysis.
Experience in marine warranty surveying is highly desirable and the successful candidates would have the opportunity to attend marine operations worldwide including loadouts, sailaways and installations.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Naval Architecture or Ship Science
- 3 - 5 years’ experience of desktop analysis and calculations
- Membership of an accredited professional institution
- High standard of communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work as part of a team and to work unsupervised
- Willingness to work offshore and overseas for short periods
- Sea keeping studies, mooring analyses and ship manoeuvring
- Practicable experience (3-5 years) in the design, transportation and installation of fixed and floating offshore structures
- Decommissioning projects
- Vessel damage assessments
- Stability and strength analyses
- Marine operations in the offshore industry
- Specialist software such as GHS, MOSES, ORCAFLEX, STAAD, etc.
