Adrian Torry

Adrian is General Manager of LOC Aberdeen and a Master Mariner with 28 years seafaring experience both in the North Sea and worldwide. He joined LOC in 2009. In 2002 he decided to begin working onshore, and progressed to marine consultancy.  He has been actively involved in the Marine Safety Forum and the Steering Group.  He has also acted as a senior consultant, regularly attending logistic and other specialist meetings.

Adrian has undertaken management roles abroad, where he was involved in the implementation of Marine Operations procedures and raising HSE awareness on chartered vessels.  He also worked to improve ship/shore/rig interfaces, reporting to senior management on progress, and sharing opportunities.

Stuart Brazewell

Stuart Brazewell is a Structural Engineer and Engineering Manager at LOC (Aberdeen) Ltd. Stuart took up this position in 2013 having been with the LOC Group since 2008 and previously based in the London and Australia offices.

Stuart joined LOC with a background as a design engineer in the naval ships defence industry.

During his time a LOC, Stuart has been responsible for the delivery of Marine Warranty Surveyor services on numerous high profile offshore installation projects.

This has encompassed technical review and site attendance on behalf of oil and gas companies, their contractors and their insurers for marine operations including load-out, transportation and installation of heavy cargo, fixed platforms, pipelines/flexibles and subsea structures.

He had attended as Marine Warranty Surveyor and performed technical review for the following key operations:

 

  • Floatover installation of 24,000t topsides.
  • Barge load-out and sailaway of modules including load-out of 24,000t topsides.
  • Jack-up of 24,000t topsides and set down on 6,000t deck support frame.
  • Offshore heavy lifts including 700t primary pile installation and flexible reels up to 250t.
  • Offshore installation of rigid jumpers up to 24” diameter.
  • Offshore installation of XMTs, umbilicals and spool-pieces.
  • Recovery and rectification of submerged buoy moorings.
  • Vessels’ mobilisation including verification of seafastening and installation aid design.
  • Bulk cargo load-out and sailaway on cargo vessels, including line-pipe.
  • Road transport of project cargos
  • Suitability surveys of vessels including AHTS and barges

Alistair Nicol

Alistair is a marine engineer at LOC Aberdeen. Alistair has over 36 years of experience in a wide range of marine fields. Starting his career as a Deep Sea Marine Engineer he went on to study and work as a Naval Architect before commencing as a Marine Surveyor (including working as a Staff Surveyor for London Underwriters for 12 years). Alistair then moved into Marine Management working as QHSE Manager, Operations Manager and DPA for several shipping companies operating ERRV’s, PSV’s, Survey Vessels and DSV’s. During this time he helped to actively promote company quality and safety management systems as well as leading the development of a ‘living safety culture’ with which he won an ‘Offshore Achievement Award’ in 1998. An active supporter of the Marine Safety Forum, Alistair is currently a member of both the Management and Steering committees as well as being involved in several sub-committees one of which he leads. He has recently attended his first Chamber of Shipping OSV Group meeting on behalf of LOC.

Since joining LOC in 2012, Alistair has undertaken the role of Marine Warranty Surveyor for several projects from Project Planning meetings and HIRA’s through vessel suitability to loadouts and sailaways. He has also conducted joint surveys following contact, pre-purchase surveys and is currently compiling a ‘Search and Rescue Manual’ as part of a project that will see Emergency Response and Rescue Vessels established in the Gulf of Mexico for the first time

George Hannah

George is a Master Mariner with LOC Aberdeen. George has over 40 years of seafaring experience. He has sailed as Master on many different types of vessels which have operated in the North Sea and Worldwide.

Before coming  ashore he was Master on a DSV operating in the Persian Gulf. In 2008 George started work as a DP Instructor for Kongsberg and taught SDP21 and K-Pos. courses mainly in Norway and Dubai. During his career, he has worked on a variety of vessels which include General Cargo, Passenger, Bulk Carriers, Gas Tankers, Pusher Tugs, Ro-Ro Ferries, Buoy Tenders, Weather Ships and many Offshore Vessels including AHTS, Supply, DSV’s, Cable and Survey/Research vessels.

He also spent a period teaching various Maritime subjects at the Glasgow Nautical College. In 2007 he was employed as a DP Consultant during the Floatover of a Gas Platform in South Vietnam.

Since joining LOC, he has carried out a number of surveys including suitability, CMID, Pre-Purchase, investigations on behalf of P&I clubs, DP Trials, Shipping Company Audit and Vessel Assurance.

James Gordon

James is a Master Mariner with LOC Aberdeen. James joined LOC with 16 years experience in the offshore industry. James has experience as a Mate and Master on emergency response and rescue vessels and multi role supply vessels. He was also a crew manager for a major shipping company operating in the North Sea for six years.

He has acted as Marine Warranty Surveyor involved in approving loadout, sailaway and installation operations in a number of offshore projects. As well as this, James has approved various types of vessels involved in offshore operations by inspection and has acred as a consultant to clients on marine manuals, specific operational requirements and operational document review.

John Morrison

John is a marine engineering consultant at LOC Aberdeen. John joined LOC in 2011 to complement the existing skills base in both mechanical and electrical disciplines, specialising in Dynamic Positioning, Power Management, Automation and DP Mechanical Systems. He began his career at British Waterways Scotland as a Marine Engineering Technician and Boat Master, leaving to study Platform Engineering for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and Royal Navy. On his departure from the MOD, he moved into the offshore industry initially in an ETO and Marine Engineering capacity on board PSVs and AHTS vessels, progressing to new building supervisor and yard SEO to oversee building of a variety of vessel types.

John has served on tankers, aviation support, multi-purpose, seismic survey, PSV, AHTS and construction vessels in the capacity of ETO and Marine Engineer, responsible for maintaining the vessels DP, electrical and mechanical systems. Since joining LOC John has been involved in many aspects of electrical, mechanical and DP tasking, these include but are not limited to:

 

  • Production of FMEAs for vessel new buildings and established vessels from conception to implementation.
  • CAT/HAT/SAT/DP Trials Witness.
  • New building and conversion supervision.
  • DP/Electrical/Marine Incident Investigation.
  • Development of Safest Mode of Operation and DP Operations Manuals.
  • DP Technical Advisor for a number of vessel operators and owners.
  • Baseline surveys for vessel mechanical, electrical and DP suitability.
  • Project/Mission equipment electrical suitability surveys.

Sean Fuller

Sean is  joined LOC  Aberdeen in 2012 to compliment the continually expanding DP team. He began his career in the Royal Navy achieving the rank of Chief Engineering Technician. During his time in the service Sean served on various types of vessel and his equipment experience spanned a broad spectrum of mechanical, electrical, electronic and DP. On his departure from the RN, he moved into the offshore industry initially in a survey engineering capacity and then on to ROV piloting and technical work. He then moved back into an ETO role on board AHTS, cruise ships and research vessels. Sean has been involved in various offshore work including construction, survey, inspection, supply and rig moves. He has served on construction support, multi-purpose survey, scientific research and AHTS vessels in the capacity of ETO, responsible for the vessel DP and electrical systems. Sean has also acted as new build vessel supervisor, overseeing the construction of new build AHTS vessels. He was heavily involved in the installation, commissioning and trials of DP and electrical equipment including the overseeing of DP FMEA proving trials.

Since joining LOC, Sean has been involved in many aspects of electrical and DP work including;

 

  • Production of FMEA’s for new builds from desktop review through to conduct of proving trials.
  • Baseline surveys for vessel electrical and DP suitability.

Sigurd Vermundsen

Sigurd is a Master Mariner at LOC Aberdeen. Sigurd has 18 years seafaring experience both in the North Sea and worldwide. Sigurd has sailed on various offshore vessels including Dive Support Vessels, Heavy Lift Vessels, Vessels conducting subsea installations, Supply Vessels, AHTS and  vessels conducting ROV operations. From December 2008 to June 2012 he was a member of the project crew during the building of the Hi-Load DP vessel and after the construction was completed he sailed on the vessel as Chief Officer. In December 2012 Sigurd started work with LOC in the Aberdeen Office and he has been involved in various different types of work.  He has also been a DP Instructor and has conducted Basic and Advanced DP Courses.

During his career, he has gained many qualifications, including:
