Our People

People are the backbone of any consultancy business and the key to its ongoing success. We have over 250 professionally qualified full time employees and dedicated contract personnel from a wide variety of backgrounds, including twenty nationalities and at least twelve languages. Collectively, they offer not only a diverse range and depth of the technical skills and expertise upon which our reputation has been built, but also an awareness of the cultures, customs and sensitivities of the countries worldwide in which we operate and do business.  
Master Mariners
Our master mariners have a broad spectrum of nautical backgrounds. Their sea going experience includes tankers, bulk carriers, container vessels, general cargo, passenger ferries and liners, offshore construction vessels and AHTS. Some also have shore management experience as superintendents and fleet managers. At LOC, their expertise is applied throughout our business and in particular for marine casualty and salvage work, cargo issues, towage and marine transportation and vessel surveys and audits.

Civil Engineers
Our civil engineers have many years of experience in the design and construction of ports, harbours and offshore structures, as well as experience of bridges, cranes and port and offshore cargo handling facilities. In LOC, this expertise is brought to bear on fixed object damage cases, on the loadout, transportation and installation of offshore structures and on a variety of engineering consultancy, design and analysis work.

Marine Engineers
Our marine engineers have a similar variety of sea going backgrounds to our master mariners, and have served as Chief Engineer and also ashore as superintendents, in management and at Classification societies. Their expertise features strongly in matters involving machinery failure investigation, bunker quality disputes, vessel newbuilding, repair or conversion disputes, cargo handling equipment and vessel surveys and audits.

Naval Architects
LOC’s naval architects have specialist knowledge and experience in the design and construction of ships and fixed and floating offshore drilling and production facilities. This expertise is utilised throughout our range of services, including hull surveys, salvage support and casualty investigations, collision analyses, offshore transportation and installation operations, vessel design and construction, conversion and repair matters and for all aspects of vessel strength and stability.

Structural Engineers
LOC’s structural engineers have backgrounds predominantly in the offshore oil and gas industry, and are well versed in the design and construction of fixed, floating and subsea offshore drilling and production facilities. They also have knowledge and experience of other maritime structures, such as cranes and port conveyor systems. Their expertise is primarily utilised on the company’s offshore energy work, and also on fixed object damage cases.

Subsea and Pipeline Engineers
Our subsea and pipeline engineers have offshore oil and gas industry backgrounds and have experience in the design and installation of subsea facilities and pipelines for offshore field developments. Within LOC, this knowledge is brought to bear on our offshore energy projects and related consultancy work, and also on fixed object damage cases involving pipelines or subsea equipment.
