There are many types of cargo carried at sea. LOC’s personnel have worked with oil, chemical and gas tankers, passenger ferries and liners, offshore construction vessels and a broad range of container ships and general cargo vessels, among others.

LOC is able to provide expert advice on disputes arising from the liquefaction of bulk cargoes, such as mineral ores, and give written and/or oral expert evidence as required.

LOC is often instructed to investigate post-collision damage to vessels

“Fixed objects” can be quays, docks, bridges, breakwaters, pipelines, fixed and floating offshore platforms, cargo-handling equipment, or cranes – in short, any maritime structure or associated equipment.

LOC’s personnel can investigate the cause, nature and extent of damage or failure for all types of hull and machinery claims.

LOC specialists have considerable expertise in advising on and attending salvage and wreck removal operations, in a consulting or surveying capacity.

Pollution is a frequent result of marine casualties, and can be caused by fuel, chemical and also dry cargo spillages.
